SUNDAY PROGRAMS
April 11 - CELEBRATION OF NATIVE AMERICAN TRADITIONS - A thank-you to Marian Kerr for the opportunity to attend this program at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. (across the parking lot from Mathew’s Cottage) Service begins promptly at l0:30 a.m. The service will be led by Michael White Bear Claw, a full blooded Cheyenne River Sioux. He will speak, dance, and guide our participation in the medicine wheel ceremony. (No Mathews’ meeting.)
April 18 - TALKING WITH ANIMALS - Samantha Khury is able to communicate with animals, birds, reptiles, and other creatures. We will see an outstanding video demonstrating her abilities, which are based on respect. She was hired by Alaska to work with bears, and clients include San Diego’s Zoo and Wild Animal Park. Lorna McClellan will share this video and moderate.
April 25 - PILGRIMAGE Are you satisfied with your life? Are you achieving what you wish? Sharon Spurlock will guide a discussion of how to achieve a different state of awareness. This will be based on a chapter from SAGA, a collection of thought provoking essays and interviews from Jonathan Young, a recent SBUF speaker. Moderator: Sharon Spurlock
May 2 - DANCING LIGHTS - The Aurora (Northern Lights) is shown clearly on this videotape produced by the University of Alaska. An ultra low-light-level camera, with film sensitivity equivalent to ASA 2,000,000, gathered observational data for the Geophysical Institute of the University. The Aurora moves in true speed and color, and various aspects of its behavior are explained by scientists at the Institute. Moderator: Rich Johnson
May 9 - MOTHER’S DAY SHARING - Bring poems, photographs, art, or whatever you would like to share, concerning your mother, or a mother figure in your life, or from your experience as a mother or grandmother. Moderator: Penny Hendricks
May 16 - NO MEETING AT MATHEWS (due to General Membership Meeting, May 15)
May 23 - HOW TO GET A L.I.F.E. - Karen L. Kenney, Ph.D, will present hew solutions for coping with crisis and change. She is a licensed psychotherapist with specialty training in trauma, grief, and loss. Moderator: Lorna McClellan
May 30 - TO BE ANNOUNCED Memorial Day Weekend

OPENERS arrive at 10:15, unlock doors, cabinet, put out sign, start water, put on tablecloth, set up cups, coffee, etc. for the refreshments. Please light the fellowship candle.
REFRESHMENTS need to arrive by 10:25. Please arrange a trade if you cannot attend or clean up on the day assigned. When you bring refreshments, it is your turn to be responsible for the clean up of the entire refreshment table including the coffee water and supplies. If you need help, just ask. By the way, thank-you very much!!!
If you cannot bring refreshments on the date listed in the newsletter, you may call someone and trade with them for another date that is more convenient.

May 2 - NEXT BOARD MEETING after fellowship on Sunday at Mathews Cottage.

May 15 - POTLUCK AND GENERAL MEETING at Beth Perkins’ home, Hawthorne, CA. Arrive at 6:00 p.m. for early dinner, followed by a meeting for the whole membership of the fellowship. Please call Beth to indicate what dish you plan to bring. On the agenda: Election of new board.
May 28 - BEACH CITIES SYMPHONY presents a program of Smetana. The free concert is Friday night at 8:15 p.m. in the Marsee Auditorium. There is a small charge for parking.
June 13 - ANNUAL DINNER AND SUNSET CELEBRATION - Note: SUNDAY evening, a new choice for the early evening dinner at Scotty’s in Hermosa, Beach. We will gather for cocktail hour at 4:30, with dinner served at 5:30.. The cost will be $15 per person (includes dinner, beverage, desert, tax, and tip.) Wine and beer are extra. Call Penny Hendricks to make your reservation and choose your entree.

Please extend your loving thoughts to Eric Johnson. Eric’s mother, Karen Johnson, passed away on March 29. During their marriage Richard Johnson and Karen were members of Pacific Unitarian Church. A memorial service will be held at P.U.C. on Saturday, April 24, at 2.00 p.m. Al Henriksen, minister at the time of their membership, will preside at the service.
