"There
are times when regular politics will not do, and this is one of those times.
There are times a country is so tired of bull that only the truth can
provide relief." Molly
Ivins, 2006
SUNDAY
PROGRAMS
December 4 - ATLAS SHRUGGED/STARVE THE BEAST -
Bob Johnson will present some of the ideas in Ayn Rand's "Atlas
Shrugged" and discuss how these ideas have been adopted by the Tea Party to
argue that "Shrink government so that it will fit in a bathtub and can be
drowned if necessary" is a good idea. Share your thoughts on what is happening on the current
political scene. Bob will moderate.
December 11 - STRESS: THE GIFT THAT
KEEPS ON GIVING - Ronda Thomas
asks the questions: Have you ever
awakened from a good night’s sleep and wondered why your jaw aches? Have you ever felt “out of sorts” for no particular
reason? Do you get frequent colds,
upset stomach, or headaches? Have
you ever considered the impact to our families when times are uncertain? Join us for a discussion of how some of these influences shape
us as social beings. Ronda Thomas
is a Native American friend of SBUF. Linda Klein will moderate.
December 18 - WHAT
THE TALES ARE REALLY SAYING. The
familiar Christmas stories, like all mythic tales, disguise their underlying
message. That message,
nevertheless, is profoundly wise and relevant.
Reverend Emeritus Ernie Pipes will be our speaker today. For those of you who don’t know, Reverend Pipes served as
minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Santa Monica.
He has played a role in the lives of several fellowship members.
Penny Hendricks will moderate.
