SUNDAY
PROGRAMS
March 3 – ON
YOUR MIND OR IN THE NEWS Penny Hendricks will lead the program which
will allow you to bring up for discussion whatever concerns you may have.
Looking at bad news vs. good news; as of Thursday, there actually is some good
stuff to report. Penny will moderate.
March 10 –
THE CATTLE, THE LION, AND THE DRAGON A Parable of human behavior.
Our good friend Reverend Emeritus
Ernie Pipes will share his ideas and point of view. Come and remember
your special connections. Bob Johnson will moderate.
March 17 - THE
FRIENDLIER SIDE OF LAS VEGAS Peter Landecker and Lenore Snodey
will relate their experiences where the Friendship Force http://FriendshipForce.org
Club of Las Vegas hosted Ambassadors from all over the world. We got to meet
people and make friends, as well as see the area as a local would see it. Peter
will show some beautiful images he recorded to capture the activities. The
moderator will be announced.
March 24 – TOP
PRIORITY – MINDFUL NUTRITION FOR YOUR BRAIN Can’t
remember what time SBUF meetings start? Concern about losing one’s
memory is an issue “on the mind” of most folks over 60. Is there
something we can do to slow or prevent this process? Or is it always just
part of aging and bad genes? Our guest speaker will share current findings
on why “what we eat” plays a significant role in maintaining a good memory.
March 31 – SO
FAR THE CROCUSES HAVE ALWAYS COME UP Easter/Passover
celebrates the return of the light, the renewal of life, the fecundity of the
earth, the escape from hunger, oppression, even death itself. It sets
aside the travails of winter for the joy of another season of growth. Of
course, those of us in
Southern California have to look carefully for the subtleties of the shift – but there is a change, we can count on that, so let’s rejoice! Our speaker Rev. Jim Conn is a retired Methodist minister. He is a social activist. He started the Church in Ocean Park in Santa Monica where he at one time was the Mayor of the city. He is a thoughtful speaker and friend to our fellowship. Penny will moderate.
