September 6 – LABOR DAY WEEKEND Pot Luck and General Meeting at Bob and Linda’s in El Segundo. If you would like to attend, please call Penny Hendricks. (No Meeting at Mathews’ Cottage.)

GOING, GOING, GONE Are all societies doomed to
eventual failure or can a society find a way to survive forever? Could the
Mata and the Anasazi have found a way to save their cultures? Can we save
ours? Meron Castain asks this question.
September 20 –
LIFE IN THE BLUE ZONE Penny Hendricks will show a “Ted” talk about
five places in the world where people live longer, happy lives----and one of
those places is here in southern California. Dan Buettner shares the
lessons for living longer from the people who’ve lived the longest.
September 27 – CAMPAIGN FINANCE is an item on the list of many
2016 presidential candidates. as well as many movements to change the status
quo. To explore this issue further, Lawrence Lessig’s popular 2013 TED
talk - We the People and the Republic we must reclaim - will be shown to spark a
discussion on campaign finance reform. Moderator to be announced.
October 4 – WHAT’S REALLY ON YOUR MIND? Come and share your
concerns and invite people to offer their ideas.

*******Attention: For Openers and Refreshment Persons *********************
Openers arrive at 10:30 a.m., unlock doors, cabinet, put out sign, start water, put on tablecloths, make the coffee, start the water, set-up cups, etc. for the refreshments. Please display the fellowship candle on the circular table. Place the Guest Book, name tags, and offering basket on the long table.
Refreshments need to arrive by 11:00 a.m. Please arrange a trade if you cannot attend or clean up on the day assigned. When you bring refreshments, it is your turn to be responsible for the clean up of the entire refreshment table including the coffee water and supplies. If you need help, just ask. By the way, thank you very much!

How
do I become a member of the South Bay Unitarian Fellowship?
Membership is open to all persons
15 years of age or older who
sign a membership card expressing agreement with the purpose of the Fellowship.
Members become eligible to vote and hold office three months after
signing membership cards. Members are expected to participate in SBUF activities and to
provide a helping hand and financial support when needed and are able to do so.
