                                               SUNDAY PROGRAMS   

 

May 1 – SCIENTOLOGY   Today we can watch a presentation from 20/20.  This will include an interview with Ron Miscavige, father of  current Scientology leader David Miscavige.  Ron talks about his son David’s journey to becoming the current leader.  The program was shown April 29, 2016.  Much of the information is based on ”Ruthless”, a new book by Ron Miscavige.  Penny Hendricks presents this program. 

May 8 – PUAMANA   Hawaiian songwriter Irmgard Farden Aluli has given so much to the world with her beautiful compositions.  We will see her spirited and loving nature in a film about her life and music.  Lorna McClellan brings this program. 

May 15 – HISTORY ACCORDING TO THE MOVIES   Reality or Fiction?  The cinema is the most important source of historical information for most people. Does it inform or distort the historical truth?  Joe Marcin presents this program. 

May 22 – BOOKS!  SOME YOU LOVED AND SOME YOU COULD HAVE LIVED WITHOUT  Come to share something you read that was meaningful to you.  Nola will lead this program. 

May 29 – CELEBRATE THE FELLOWSHIP  Come to share and discuss the General Business of the fellowship.  We will vote on a couple of expenditures and donations.  There will be refreshments.  If there is something that you want to bring up that may require a vote or change, please attend.

*******Attention: For Openers and Refreshment Persons  *********************

Openers arrive at 10:30 a.m., unlock doors, cabinet, put out sign, start water, put on tablecloths, make the coffee, start the water, set-up cups, etc. for the refreshments.  Please display the fellowship candle on the circular table. Place the Guest Book, name tags, and offering basket on the long table. 

Refreshments need to arrive by 11:00 a.m.  Please arrange a trade if you cannot attend or clean up on the day assigned.  When you bring refreshments, it is your turn to be responsible for the clean up of the entire refreshment table including the coffee water and supplies.  If you need help, just ask.  By the way, thank you very much!

Hooray!  We have a new member.  Yullan Valor signed a SBUF membership card in March.  Yullan has attended whenever her schedule permitted and has added some tasty additions to some of our potlucks.  Welcome,Yullan  

Spring has Sprung and the Fellowship is growing.  We have another new member and it is only April.  Bernard Elias signed a SBUF membership card on April 24th.  The next time you are at fellowship, introduce yourself. 

From UUA:  We covenant to affirm and promise a free and responsible search for truth and meaning. A goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all.

How do I become a member of the South Bay Unitarian Fellowship?  Membership is open to all persons 15 years of age or older who sign a membership card expressing agreement with the purpose of the Fellowship.  Members become eligible to vote and hold office three months after signing membership cards.  Members are expected to participate in SBUF activities and to provide a helping hand and financial support when needed and are able to do so.  

 

SBUF Programs   If there is a particular topic you would like to see presented on a Sunday morning, or an organization you want to know more about, or a good book you would like to share, or any other ideas for Sunday morning programs, please call Penny Hendricks. Your input is valuable!  Thank you for your help.
